To prepare for asbestos demolition/ maintenance work, the responsible process manager, maintenance supervisor, or project engineer shall contact the Inspection Department to determine whether the material contains asbestos. The Enviommental Conservation Regulatory Affairs Group shall then be advised. One month advance notification to the Regulatory Affairs Group is required. I The Inspection Department is responsible for the determination of the type of binder used (asbestos or non-asbestos) in old existing insulation. This may include obtaining the insulation sample whenever practical. It is not manditory, however, that the inspector physically removes the sample. Whenever someone other than the Inspection Department samples the insulation care must be taken to assure-that.'a representative sample -itf ^obtained!* - , -fc || # f ^ After receipt of the insulation sample it is the duty of the Inspection Department to analyze the sample and report the analysis to the requestor.
