Brown, Jr., celled the meeting to ord at t30 A**i* and asked each person to stand and identify himself aw! his company affiliation. : E* Tbe nisates of the last meeting were presented for reading. Sehuaan, Treasur er. rx. Peele moved that it be accepted, seconded by Mr. Hough, and so voted. The report ia attached to these r.inutes* 4. Mr. p.Jay Plocken, Legal Counsel, discussed the background* stat utory construction and means of enforcement Pertaining to the Sheran Act* with particular emphasis on the per se offenses which have been established under Section 1 of the Act. 5. Pr. N.W. Hendry, General Sales T-anager, Canadian Johns-fanville Asbestos Limited, Asbestos Fibre Division, presented a most interest ing renort on behalf of the asbestos fibre producers. The full tert of his renort is attached to these minutes. 6. Mr. Howard E. Shearer, Industrial Development Coordinator, F1C Corp. American Viscose Division, Marcus Hook, Pa., addressed the eeting. His subject, "Soae Fiber Relationships of Interest to the Asbestos Textile Manufacturer", was most informative. Assisted by rhotoaierogrsphic slides, lx. Shearer explained the various steps io the aanufacture of rayon and distinguishing features of the many de scriptions of staple produced by the American Viscose Division* It was indicated that the uniform diameters and lengths of a crimped rayon with a serrated cross section; and its eobesive and processing properties enhanced by the presence of a delustrant and apeeial lu bricating finish, make such a staple especially attractive as a car rying fiber for spinning of asbestos* Resident Drown expressed to Hr. '.Vronski, Chairman ; 8. President Drown reported with deep regret the death of T.C. Me- * Cluskey, President of Tallman-McCluskey Fabrics Company, which oc- S curred on July 18, 1966. hr. MeCluskey was a most loyal supporter 1 of the various activities of the A.T.I., and had served as its tress- I nrer in 1958, and as Vice President in 1961 and 1962. President Brown stated that he bad written a letter of sympathy to Ms. MeClusk- 1 ey on behalf of the Institute, and the letter is Bade a part of these j inutes* i j 9* Mr, Peele, Chairman of the Nominating Committee, reported that the meabeem of the Board of Governors for the ecning year would bet J.A. Schuman, Johns-.'anvi lie Corporation Treasurer N*t*A* i'ertucci, GarlocU, Inc* 11* President Drown stated that the present chairmen of Air Hygiene k t'ff*. Technical, Sales Promotion and Piber Testing Committees, all of whom have completed only one year of the normal two year sendee, would be continued for another year without change* 12* President hrown, retiring president, was presented with a hand, aome ATJtJS clock on behalf of the members, by i!r* Peele, in apprecia- tion of his leadership of the Institute during the past two >e art* President Brown expressed his thanks for the gift idth aprropriate remarks, and said that it had been a most pleasurable and worthwhile experience to have had the opportunity to serve the Institute as its President* He thanked the members and the Board of Governors for the fine cooperation given him during his tenure of office* 13* President Prown commented on the fact that so many of the twbers had brought tl>eir respective wives to this meeting Csbout 30) and remarked that the ladies had contributed a great deal to the so cial success and good fellowship so evident in the two days preceding this General Meeting* 14* President Drown announced that the next regukr meeting of the Institute would be held on February 9-10, 1967, at the CuEJWY UIIA INN, Cherry Hill, u,J, The Cherry Hill Inn is well-known for its rtew and exceptionally fine accomodations* It is located near Cam den, h.j#, Just across the river from Thiladelphia* It is convenient by TAXI to Philadelphia's trains and ainv>rts, and also is elose to the New Jersey Turnpike for those who drive their ears to the Meeting* ! 15* There being no further business to come before this meeting, it was duly adjourned, ; Respectfully submitted. \
