Davis MLD-54-86 October 22, 1986 RESULTS OP ASBESTOS TESTING OF PIPING INSULATION ON T-243 STEAM LINES Due to scheduled maintenance which required the removal of some piping insulation suspected to contain asbestos, samples of the insulation were submitted for asbestos analysis. The insulation was from 40# and 240# steam lines on T-243 in the Trloxane Unit. Samples were sent to NATLSCO, an AIHA accredited laboratory, for bulk asbestos analysis. Results show that the insulation from the 40# steam line contains 30Z asbestos, while the insulation on the 240# line contains 50Z asbestos. Recommendations for proper handling of asbestos-containing materials may be found in policy 7-4 in the Celanese Policies and Procedures Manual.
