190 Tsvctily-sccosid Congress--National Safety Council
Conclusion: Onr society and the National Safety Council as a whole hare passed through several difficult years wtutti have reflected the baiieu depression feh so keenly by oar industries throughout the world. Regardless of commercial depression, however, safety vrork must be carried on. The conservation of human life is just as important during time* of slack work as it is in homn years, and oar work' is now more essentia] than mr before became h is anticipated that the NRA will bring bade to work thousands of men who have lust considerable portions of their old skin and stamina. The mental hazards of their jtfs are also increased because of worries doc to idleness, reduced income, and pressing financial obligations. Many indus trialisls are asking VWhal is to be done tn keep nor accident records down to the low figures of 1931 and W32r Certainly sodi conditions and questions constitute a challenge which cannot be ignored and which definitely calls for the very best that is in each indivkhal safety man. as well as far co-operative effort through new as well as old and established channels of the ASSE-Engmeering Section.
