Meeting with Occupational Health Branch Department of Public Health Regina, Saskatchewan
Subject: HIGHER TETRAETHYL LEAD CONTENT IN MOTOR FUEL
The meeting was held on Tuesday, January 12, i960, at 10:00 A.M. In the new Provincial Health Building. Present were Dr. Norman Williams, Director, Occupational Health Branch, Mr. A.L. Riegert, Technical Assistant, Mr. A.C. Tully and Dr. D.R. Warren.
Or. Williams has been director of thi3 Branch for a few years and has been building up his department slowly in the new Provincial Health Building. A laboratory and facilities for occupational health work have been provided. A Supervisor of Occupational Health Nursing, Mrs. J. Woods, has been employed to act as consultant in this capacity. A health centre ha3 been developed for the care of provincial civil servants housed in the building and the proximate legislative buildings and other offices. Dr. Williams was pleased to sho'w U3 his laboratory facilities.
Activities are In the fields of agricultural occupa tional health including chemical sprays, etc., radioactive materials in the northern part of the province, industrial developments in Regina, Saskatoon, Moose Jaw and other smaller centers of population, in keeping with good general policies.

' Mr. Tully outlined the economic and technical jtistification for the increase of tetraethyl lead to 4 ml. The discussions were friendly and easy. Dr. Williams was obviously familiar with the data contained in U.S. Public Health Service Bulletin #712, !:Public Health Aspects of Increasing Tetraethyl Lead Content In Motor Fuel". Dr. Warren outlined the health aspects and emphasized the company's Interest in industrial hygiene generally and well a3 tetraethyl lead specifically.
The meeting concluded with the lunch hour and la*. Williams and Mr. Riegert joined us for lunch.
