Product lines were supplemented by the production of our new Savannah plant begin ning in March and by the acquisition of the Acme Door plant in July.
Plywood and plywood products amounted to 72.32% of our total production, with doors equal to 10.70% and lumber equal to 16.78%.
Sales of GPX and other new specialty products were increased to 10.04% of produc tion from 3-72% in the preceding year.
Sales of plywood reached an all-time record with sales to industry for a multitude of end uses in greatly increased proportion.
Customer service was improved with faster deliveries and full product lines by adding warehouse facilities in 8 cities in theSouth.
Our broad management structure was developed to bring swifter liaison between sales needs and production schedules from coast to coast; further cost cuts resulted front our overall study of methods both in manufacturing and distribution.
In spite of record sales and production, during the year we built up the largest backlog of logs and timber in our history.
The corporate structure was improved by acquisition of 100% of the outstanding common stock of our subsidiary, Washington Veneer Corporation.
We raised the dividend rate on the common stock to
quarterly (31.50 annually)
and increased the value of what the stockholders own by 33.7%.

As merchandisers of modern forest products, our plans begin with the customers' needs. We study the potential uses for our products and gear manu facturing schedules to the demands of the very wide market that we serve. For closer management con trol, Company operations are divided into four divisions, each headed by a Vice President. Manu facturing is in the Western and Southern Divisions
in the two important timber regions of the United States which cbntain 7d% of the nation's commercial timber. The manufacturing divisions supply prod ucts for all out markets and conduct sales operations in their own territories as well. Our Midwestern and Eastern Divisions are located centrally in our two most important market areas and are primarily Con cerned with distribution and sales.
