I hope that you will agree that the reaction was triggered by the newspaper announcementa, that very day, of a petition to the Consumer's Trade Commission concerning Asbestos Free Joint Cement, and specifically naming G-P. In my own defense I would like to point out the following sequence of events. 1. Regarding my TUX to Bob* You refer to ny TUX stating "our firm Instructions." The "our" referred to Dave Corkill, BUI Lehnert, and myself. We were Instructed to switch one gallon to Asbestos Free Immediately. I assumed you and the plants received the same Instructions. Evidently an assumption I should not have made. For that I'm sorry. 2. I had just prepared the TUX (with no carbon copy to G. E. Wilson) when Glenn called me In and showed me the newspaper articles. After reading It he said that he was sure happy that ve at least had switched all one gallon consumer products to Asbestos Free at the plants. ~I felt I had an obligation to tell him that ve were not completely on Asbestos Free at all plants, sincea^~-xe may hove been others not on the Asbestos Free product also.
