Extrudate samples have been sent for their evaluation and recommendation, and a trial is be ing arranged. eL>& * f ^ 2. PPG Results of our preliminary studies on the correlation of pH with grind, oil absorption and insolubles were pre sented to PPG on January 12th. We see no correlation at this time. Work is continuing. PPG indicated that they are net dissatisfied with qual ity at this time, but merely looking for better ways for both of us to control production and quality. A library search has been initiated at CRD for a process to manufacture Lead Cyanamid. At this time PPG is only interested in feasibility. They have requested that we not proceed with lab trials, etc. until further notice. 3. B. F. GOODRICH MSDS, specifications and test methods for Cyastab SLM have been supplied to Goodrich, and an order has been received for 50 lbs. fer the Western Electric trial. TENNECO We have been informed verbally of a complaint regard ing electricals on Cyastab 523-0, but have not received the written complaint at this time. As we now understand the complaint, 523-0/ Tribase XLoiled is now being used in compounds where another stabi lizer had been used previously. In this compound electri cal properties are important, and the last 2 shipments of 523-0 have been found inferior to Tribase XL - oiled. We do know al this--time wheUier- the recent 523-0 was typical, or1 52J1 0 is--i nherf?ntl-y--i-frreii'or--to Tri-base XL---ol1Sd. We are\iow testing electricals on material from these last two shipments versa^ material produced a year ago. Depending on the results'of this work, we will either have to investigate the reason for the deteriora tion or modify 523-0 to be more like Tribase XL-oiled. 5. NORMAL LEAD STEARATE We have reported to department management on the feas ibility and estimated cost to manufacture Normal Lead Stearate. 6 . SYNTHETIC PRODUCTS Particle size distribution data on 5 lots of Cyastab 712 have been reported to this customer. They will correlate these data with previously reported oil absorption data and their own work on dispersibility for presentation tc their customer, Inland Div., General Motors. B . PLANT GENERAL 1.
