Dear Ur, Stender:
.
.
i
It has come to ay attention that chrysotile asbestos la an In
gredient in cany spackle and taping compounds and that asbestos
levels between 3 and 13.7 fibers/cc are produced during sanding
of taped dry-wall Joints, Furthermore, chest X-ray studies of
tapers conducted at !!ount Sinai School of Medicine show a huge
percentage or fibrosia among tapers. Details of the analyses
and otudies are giveo in the enclosures.
*
X am asking that OSEA's Target Health llazard Program for asbestos
be alerted to this newly recognized exposure, which can occur in
the mixing of the taping andi speckle compounds as veil as in the
sanding of the Joint seems.
. .
Sincerely yours,
