The Beating was called to order at 10(30 A.I. with Mr. Patera in the chair. The chairman reviewed the progress toward the basic objective* of the whit# lead caapalan through proeotlonal efforts during the oaat twenty ontha. Although the Tlrary objective to reverse the downward trend In the consumption of srhlte lead ov*r twenty-odd year* had not yet been accomplished, one corollary objective, that Is, making white lead paint generally available to the public had at last been realized throuah the recent decision of the national Lead Company to Join an Increasing group of paint manufacturers In the production of readymixed pure white lead paint. Private statistics Indicated a general decline In exterior paint sales during 1940, which was slso reflected In a drop in the production of white lead. Indications are that the general availability of ready-mixed white lead paint, plus ex pected orders for national defense will result In a considerable In crease In production and sale of white lead during 1941. The aeeratery had htlped In procuring Government business lately Involving probably the largest paint order In history, with specifications requiring either 10O* white lead palrt or a minimum of Tod white lead In a lead-lnc-lnrt formulation. Both budgets featured th* elimination of soae trad* and fana media, It being th* strong feeling of th* Agency that th* consumer** schedule ahould b* maintained at Its present effectiveness In spit* of any budget revisions. Following a discussion, th* fPOO,000 seh*dul* was finally adopted with certain apace reductions and media resto rations to *t th* requirements of specific companies. Th* budget as finally agreed upon will b* found attached as PJChlblt *A.* It was agreed that th* t*apo of th* campaign should b* Balntaln*d as vigorously as possible. COFI XTU.Vf&l Mr. Cobbs subaltted layouts and copy proposed by th* Agency for 1941, all of which were accepted with enthusiasm following alnor revisions as to fact and text. It was recommended as a basic policy that aentlon of Governmental orders for white lead paint should be ellalnated froa th* copy. ATTACKS OX WRIT* ____ LTAP Th* chairman announced that several attacks on whit* lead had teen discovered and Investigated and readily corrected during the past y*r, and that there was a definite Improvement In th* attitude of the offending coapanlea. In each case, a willingness to cooperate was evidenced with the consequent ellnlnatlon of a display, or correction of th* offending copy or editorial consent. The aeetlng adjourned at <00 P.X.
