Dear Mr. Simpson:- I wish to acknowledge receipt of yours of April 27th enclosing report from Dr. Gardner of Saranac Laboratory. I had not acknowledged receipt of thi3 report previously but I did, when in conversation with you over long distance on Friday, April 29th, mention to you that seme had been received and advised that I would like to make copies of said report, turning one copy over to Mr. Julian Mitchell so that we could discuss same with our medical adviser, Dr, Lynch. I have also received yours of April 29th in which you make further reference to this report which was submitted by Dr. Gardner and along with which you forwarded me a copy of a letter which had been addressed to yourself, under date of April 28th, by Mr. Vandiver Brown. I had already, as mentioned above, had copies made of the report and had turned same over to Mr. Mitchell last Friday afternoon and he is arranging to have a conference of himself, Dr. Lynch and myself, at which time we can discuss this report. In regard to the last paragraph of yours of April 29th, of course I understand that these reports of Dr. Gardner's are not to be regarded as absolutely conclusive. However, I do agree with your statements that the information given in the reports to date are very surprising, in that, it is claimed that the fine dust has not caused any serious damage or inconvenience to the animals who are subjected to same. As requested in the second paragraph of yours o f April 27th, I will return these reports to you within the next few days, but m y reason for holding seme up i3 that I am endeavoring to have copies made of the comparative photographs which accompanied Dr. Gardner's report, and as soon as these are completed I will then return to you all of the papers which you enclosed along with yours of April 27th. You may recollect that when in conversation with you on April 29th, I mentioned that Captain Ross, of the Asbestos Corporation had spoken to me when he was recently here, in regard to an article which had appeared in an issue of the South African Mining Journal along about the early part of the present year .r> .and that he had promised to send me a copy of said article.
