And I noted some of my questions below; it's general advice for anyone who is looking for ways to keep their home cool and is worried about high utility bills (which is probably a lot of us during this heat wave!). For instance, how effective are light-blocking curtains or thermal shades? Are there steps people can take who live in a rented home with only a window unit air conditioner to help cool their space? For anyone in an older home, what are some things they can do to improve efficiency and cooling?
