Brazelton J. L. Corder There are two steps that can be taken to try to correct the recent jet plugging problems: 1. Since there is no accumulation of Aroclor 5460 in the catch tank, Item 135, the length of the dip leg should be increased by l'-6" so that the 5460 vapors come in contact with the cooled bottom of the tank. This will increase the efficiency of the tank, and decrease the amount of 5460 reaching the jet. 2. A method of cleaning the jet before it becomes completely plugged and necessitates having maintenance break it down and clean it, would be to suck a solvent into the jet. In the past, hot Aroclor 1242 was used as a solvent to clean the jet. Due to PCB pollution, this was discontinued. However, another solvent such as TCB might be used because there is no evidence that TCB presents a pollution problem.
