Thermo-Clicm
The mosl versatile packing you can buy Here is a new simpHUed way for yo u to select and specify Johns-Manvilie Asbestos. Glass'Fiber and Relractory Ropes. Each Style is designated by the temperature range it will handle efficiently, at the lowest cost lor the job requirement. This simplification of J-M lines will accomplish two things for you:
It will enable you to specify the right product more quickly and easily,
2nd It p in p o in ts your needs and will help reduce your inventory requirem ent. In addition, it will reduce the p o s s ib ilily of using a product that cannot handle the job.
In Ihe past, sizes under V," have been called "W ick ." Generally, these small sizes ol rope have been relatively solter and less dense than the sizes V and up. traditionally designated "Rope." In the new Thermo-Pac line, lor acfced simplicity, all sizes are called "Rcpe." However, sizes less lhan %" w iil. _ _ continue to be soli and light density products. Where special conditions require it. more lightly Iwislcd and . dense ropes in sizes less than V can be furnished on Special Order.

Asbeslos liber is used in ropes lor the te m p e ra tu r e ra n g e s tip to 100.0F; above that. R elraclory filaments are the base fibers.
They are the ideal general-purpose packings, w h e th e r (or em ergency packing and gasketing where other materials ore not available, or w here Ihe shape or condition of the e q u ip ment will not allow the use of less pliable, less adaptable materials.
These ropes are extremely versatile in that size can be reduced or increased --simply by separating Ihe slranrJs or b u ilding up Ihickness by twisting several together. They are available in a num ber of materials to suit your particular requirem ents -- ranging from minus 400F to plus 2700F.
In addition, tor severe acid service. Thermo-Chem glass liber. Style 770 which resists corrosive action by acids, is available for services to 7 50F.

J-,vi Therm o-Pac 1000 is successlully used as calking rope lor bell.and spigol joints in chemical lines. Because il contains no organic c o m p o n e n ts, il is used as yarning rope lor water lines. In addition to its heal-resistance. the chemically inert chai acle rislics have made iUn ' standard" in other chemical-handling o p e ra tio n s such as packing lor carboy-stoppers, and in Cryogenic services, and other applications w h e re this property is required.

Inventory Recommendations For simplified, economical inventory. J-M recommends slocking ThermoPac 1000 for all operalions-up to 1000F.This reduces Ihe number ol styles ca rrie d in inventory. It in s u re s that the one rope carried will handle all services to I000F. For o p e ra t in g . . temperatures above this. Therm o-Pac 2300 should be slocked: temperatures above 23 0 0 F are unusual and. ca n be met accordingly.
Check your re q u ire m e n ts --sizes and temperatures. You will find you can reduce your inventory by standardiz ing on the J-M Thermo-Pac and Thermo-Chem siyles and sizes for your equipment.

Braided Asbestos Rope
A c o m p a n io n line to J-M Thermo-Pac Twisted Rope is Braided Rope, th e s e ropes consist oi one or more braided jackets over twisted cores, or solid braid-over-braid patterns. They are used where a more compact, dense. abrasion-resistant structure is re a u ire d . such ss in partial grooves in lurnace or oven doors where the rope is not entirely contained. Depending on requirements, these ropes can be lurnished in either round or square cross-section. Certain styles can be lu rn ish e d in rectangular shape. Asbestos purities range Irom C om m ercial to AAA Grade.
