Irvin Mr. Caldwell of the Consolidated Edison Company informed me today that their reason for using the respirators, goggles and gloves was due to the fact that they were available and on hand fron being used in working previously with rockwool. Inasmuch as they had been taking these precautions in working with rockwool, they assumed they should do the sane with Fiberglas.. Just where this idea originated, Ur. Caldwell was unable to find out i*e. he did not know whether it originated with the supervisor or with the local asbestos union. Mr. Caldwell thought that the Treadwell Company, who were the engineers and contractors on this job, could probably give us more information, but it would be asking them to do something that would undoubtedly embarrass them. Therefore, I will not do anything further on this unless you would like to have any additional or definite information. If so, Ur, Caldwell will be very glad to help me and guide us. As far as the Corning Class Works installation is concerned, I understand that the Smith-Uurray Company,. who are the JohnsUanville distributors, applied the pipe covering on this job. Apparently, that's why you smiled the other day when you told no not to worry about this Job. You might have hinted that this was the case. Of course, I can understand why you did not, but it might have saved me some embarrassment* ADD (signed) W. B. Dias F. B.
