Sheehan DATE May 3, 1968 Attached is a letter from Len Winchester regarding-the problems that we have in the densification of Asbestoprene to Asbestopac. In this process we apparently quite often receive material from S K that meets our Receiving Inspection specifications; however, after we process this material the final asbestopac does not meet the specifications required by Plant 4. As you know, in the past, we have shipped material to Plant 4 with a deviation and they were not able to use the centers and we had to give them an allowance for this material. Len is suggesting that we act as middle-men and charge Plant 4 only for the labor and burden required to get someone to densify this material. I don't necessarily believe that this is a right answer. I would like to have the laboratory review our in-coming specifications, our process and a final specification to determine if we have the capabilities of producing a good final product with the material that we received. If we can't come up with a more con sistent process, I have to join Len and his stand for the risk of losses is too great for the burden absorption that I recovered in running this material. rb Attach.
