As you know, they threatened suit and it was our thought that the expense of the defense of such a suit would involve more than this amount, even though we felt sure that the claim that the handling of Ethyl Gasoline caused his illness could not be supported. We have not received Dr. Norris* report on the examination of the tissues and doubt if it would be advisable for us to reopen the case at this time. If any information should come to our atten tion we will of course pass it along to you as soon as it is received. We have quite a file on the subject and will be glad to make copies of any part of it that you might desire. I would suggest that you keep the matter in mind and we will be glad to, show the file to you when you next come to New York and you can then decide whether you wish any of it for your records.
