jLendl CLINTON M. CRANE,PRESIDENT K.C, BROWNELL, VICE PRESIDENT P. W. ROCKWELL, VICE PRESIDENT ROBERT LINDLEY ZlEGFELD SECRETARY-TREASURER 4-2 0 LEXINGTON AVENUE YEW YORK lV.Y.Y. December 29, 1948 MANFRED SOWDITCH DIRECTOR OF HEALTH AND SAFETY Robert A. Kehoe, M.D. Director, Kettering Laboratory College of Medicine Eden Avenue Cincinnati 19, Ohio Dear Bob: I was much pleased to note in the December 3 issue of the Daily Metal Reporter that the Kettering Laboratory has been retained by the American Steel and Wire Company to sift the causes of the Donora episode. It has been my understand ing that the Industrial Hygiene Foundation was also retained for this purpose by the company and I am wondering whether this new move means that they have withdrawn from the picture. In any event, the latest word is good news indeed, for I can think of no outfit more competent to bring an orderly solution out of the present chaos of conflicting hypotheses than yours. It need hardly be explained that our association is keenly Interested in the Implications of this problem (it was for that reason that I got McCabe to speak at our Chicago con ference), and I hope that you will see"to It that we are ap prised of your findings as they become available. Best wishes for a busy and happy 19491 Sincerely yours. 0014975
