Dear Wayne:
I am in receipt of your letter of June 21, 1982 to Mr. Tuthill confirming that it is Tarkett's position to continue manufacture of asbestos felt for sale to Mannington Mills. I appreciate you clarifying the situation, which, I must admit, had been somewhat cloudy in our minds.
I am_ absolutely amazed and somewhat in a state of shock'about your comments drawing our attention, and, I quote, "to the dangers and hazards of asbestos, which in our opinion is exposing your company to considerable financial risk," and going on to say that it would be to our advantage if we would convert to Saturn material. Wayne, I would like you to send to me the material or the facts that you base the above quote on. You.are intimating that by using your asbestos backing that we are causing all kinds of dangers and hazards to the health of the people that are using our floorcovering. I would like some stated cases. I would like the entire facts that you have used to write such a defamatory statement about our goods that we are manufacturing and selling through out the world.

Wayne, I am extremely, serious. You have made an accusation about the products of Mannington Mills -- an accusation which I fully expect either you to back up with facts or else send a letter of apology. This, I do not consider a method of maintaining our long-lasting good relationship.
Sincerely,
MANNINGTON MILLS. INt
