Subject firm contacted me on August 31 in regard to the availability of a Vinyl Chloride Monomer containing stream with the following analysis:
VCM 2 Chloro Propane 2, 2 Dichloro Propane Isopropanol Mixed Chlorinated Solvents
56%
25% 2% 8%" 9%
The annual availability of this stream is 1. 000,000 to 1, 750, COO pounds of contained VCM. According to Industrial Solvents, this material would be available nearby to Texas City from a YCM producer that is essentially captive on the monomer. No offered, price was mentioned by Industrial Solvents.
Analysis was passed on. to B. J. Darby and J. W, Kongable for evaluation. Kongable advisee that this stream would be unacceptable for feed into the YCM plant, as this is essentially someone elee's VCM tar stream. He requested that we obtain a sample eo that we could run a more thorough analysis of the product to see if we could learn anything more about the stream. The sample was delivered to Kongable on September 3. After running the analysis, the sample container should be returned to E. W. SayboIt Company in Texas City.
I have since learned that this material does not originate from Diamond Alkali and is probably a stream from Tenneco's plant in Houston.
