Rego - Cincinnati R. Garcia Today (5-24-71) Mr. B. Esarey, who is in charge of the labs at GM Central Foundry, Bedford, Indiana, called concerning a potential pollution problem. Specifically, a farmer about two miles downstream from the GM plant has reported to the Indiana authorities the presence of oil in his well water. Mr. Esarey asked how can he tell whether or not this is related to Pydraul 312 and theiry recovery pond system. I indicated a phosphorus and chlorine analysis was a relatively direct way to check presence and approximate quantity. He had not run chlorine, but found a trace of phosphorus (Pydraul 312 should contain 1.2 - 1.3% P and 19-20% Cl). He will be sending us a sample of "oil" from the well for analysis.
