For instance, UL-83 requires ''Oil Resistant - 60C.M TWf and THWH wire insulation to be subjected to 96 hours in ASTM #2 oil at 100 + 1C. UL-62 requires 168 hours immersion in oil at 60 + 1C. for oil-resistant Class 11 thermoplastic Jacket in the categories SVTO, 8JT0 or STO. ^ Canadian Standards Association calls for only 4 hours immersion in 70C* oil for jacket^ which is very mild by comparison with Underwriters' acquirements. ~ ASTM specifies 4 hours immersion at 70C. in a couple of their specifications (like CSA). Chuck and I see nothing wrong with the numbers obtained by MOCAH. In interpreting them, however, bear in wind that vinyl formulas plasticised with TOTM or 610-TM usually fail a severe oil immersion test.
