with this vacuum, it should also be 3 wire. Since
many receptacle boxes in present construction will
not have provisions for 3 prong plugs, an 'adapter
is included with this vacuum. Make sure grounding
lead is firmly attached to a grounded receptacle
box as shown above, before attempting to operate
the vacuum.
'Not used in Canada.
Extension Cords-The use of any Extension Cord will cause some loss of power. To keep to a mini mum and to prevent overheating and motor burn

1. TO OPERATE FOR DRY PICKUP - Insert electric plug into 110-120 V. 60 Cycle outlet only. Both motors on your vac are equipped with a separate switch. For most cleaning both motors are required; either one or both motors can be turned on as needed. Use in manner similar to household vacuum cleaner. To empty tank disconnect plug from outlet, re move lid and empty the contents of the tank into a trash can. For blowing, use the exhaust ferrule (Key No. 4) instead of the intake ferrule (Key No. 9).
CAUTION: Never operate motors for dry pick up without cloth filter bags (Key No. 18) and paper filter bags (Key No. 19) properly mounted over filter bag guards (Key No. 17). See ASSEMBLY. Immediately replace a torn, ripped or excessive worn paper bag.
2. TO OPERATE FOR WET PICKUP - Discon nect plug from outlet. Remove lid from the tank. Remove paper and cloth filter from filter bag guard. (Do Not Use Filters For Wet Pickup). Empty all scraps and shavings from drum. Replace lid on tank and plug in. Both motors on your vac are equipped with a separate switch. This allows you to have the power you need, either one or both motors can be turned on as needed. Use in same manner as when using for Dry Pickup, except move nozzle across floor slowly. A special water pickup nozzle was designed for maximum pickup. This is Cat. No. 9-17817, and is available at your local Sears store. This unit has a float on each motor which will auto matically stop the suction when the tank is full of water. When the floats stop the suction, the motors will audibly pick up speed. When this happens, drain water remaining in hose
into tank by raising hose above tank and turn
the switches off.
To empty tank, disconnect plug from outlet and roll unit to drain, remove expansion plug from lower side of unit Remove the lid from the tank and empty remaining contents of water from tank. Rinse hose, tank, inside of cover, and nozzle, with clear water after using as Wei Pickup Unit. Allow parts to dry before using for Dry Pickup. Replace expansion plug in tank and tighten securely! Replace filters on filter
guards. Replace lid on tank and unit is ready for Dry Pickup.
MAINTENANCE
CAUTION: When servicing motor or blower unplug power cord first
1. TO REPLACE BRUSHES ON MOTOR a. Remove the brush holder cap. (See Fig. 8). b. Slide out brush and spring. c. Replace with new brush and spring and slide into motor. Replace brush holder cap. d. Be sure to replace second brush in similar manner.
2. DISASSEMBLY OF MOTOR-BLOWER ASSEMBLY The field assembly (Key No. 11, page 8, and Key No. 12, page 10) brush clip terminal must be replaced in brush holder (Key No. 6, page 8. and page 10) in the same direction as dis assembled. All field assembly leads must be at top and be replaced in a clockwise direction when looking at top of motor. See exploded views (Key No. 31, page 8, and Key No. 32, page 10).
3. For dry pickup, replace paper filter bags when emptying tank. The cloth bags can be cleaned by shaking; or vacuuming off, but paper filter bags must be in place. Fine particles will clog filter quickly requiring more frequent cleaning.
