Odom, Personnel Manager Air Products and Chemicals, Incorporated Post Office Box 467 Pensacola, Florida 32592 Dear Mr. Odom: Curing our meeting with Dr. Kotin today, several additional recommendations were made. First,does have very minimal changes in the x-rays of the hands which necessitate his removal from exposure to vinyl chloride and polyvinylchloride. In addition, he should have x-rays of the hands again in three months. In addition, should have the liver function profile plus ^repea^THT test on or about July 2, 1974. should have a repeat liver function profile y 2, 1974. have a repeat liver function profile plus AFP on or about July 2, 1974. It is felt that the following men, who had only minimal or borderline abnormalities on the recent testing can revert to the routine program of retesting every six months: It is my understanding that all those employees who will be working in the PVC portion of the complex will have x-rays of the hands and the liver function profile every six months. It is also my understanding that people working in other portions of the complex will continue with the current nureeplant physician system of check-ups. If this is in error, please let me know. Finally, in connection with the employees with abnormal liver function tests, it is understood that they will not: be exposed further to PVC or its monomer. For the present, I will not have to examine any of these men unless they turn up with continued abnormalities three months hence or the liver scans a9 requested In a separate note of this same date are abnormal or questionable. \ AP00030742 Mr. Joseph F. Nell Boyette, Laboratory FROM: Dr. Barkley Beidleman Of the Air Products employees recently surveyed, those who will continue to work in the PVC portion of the complex will return every six months (except for those special cases already noted) for re-evaluation. This is to Include only x-rays of the hands and chest and the final revision of the liver profile to Include alkaline phosphatase, total protein, globulin, albumin, bilirubin (total, direct and indirect), SGOT, GGTP, SGPT, LAP, fractional LDH, and platelet count.
