Bedankt voor Uw e mail betreffende de ontbijtvergadering, aanstaande donderdag 27 januari, in de "Maison Ernest Solvay".
Mrs Kadri would like to Inform the Minister about the Solvay Carbon Neutrality target for 2040/2050 that we announced last October. She also would like to exchange thoughts with the Minister on the EU Green Deal and the EU CSS, as well as the efforts and innovations Solvay is making in being a key supplier for EV batteries, semiconductors and for the production of green hydrogen. This touches upon the issue of PFAS. Solvay is producing fluoropolymer (PVDF) which is an essential ingredient in EV-batteries and Semiconductors.
Mrs Kadri would also be interested to learn about the Minister's Circular Economy Plan she launch last month; in that respect Mrs Kadri will probably raise the issue of metals recovered from recycling of batteries (so-called black mass) to be of sufficient quality to produce new EV batteries; we are working in a project with Veolia on this. Currently the EU Parliament and Council are negotiating the EU Battery Directive - there is a risk that the black mass is not maintained in Europe but shipped to Asia. That would jeopardise maintaining this precious material in Europe to create a true circular value chain for EV batteries in Europe.
