Schifferle - Akron DATE: June 21, 1973 LOCATION: Wilmington location: Akron Regarding my memo of 6-18-73, this subject, we wish to advise the following violation may be considered abated. Serious violation - Citation Number 2 "Failure of the Employer to provide, and for employees to use, U. S. Bureau of Mines Approved respiratoij ..........." On June 19, 1973 we posted a notice to all Employees that approved respirators are available and must be worn at all times when in the asbestos exposure areas outlined by OSHA. Serious violation - Citation Number 3 "Failure of Employer to establish a respirator program throughout the dry mixing area ..................." Abated by above mentioned notice, copy attached. Other violations - Citation Number 3 "Failure of the employer to establish a personal monitoring program at intervals not greater than 6 months ............" Two such tests were conducted for an 8 hour period on June 18, 1973 by a qualified tester with approved instruments. These te;<t filters are being checked at this time by the Buffalo Testing Laboratories. We have scheduled regular monitoring tests in the future as required by OSHA. Other violations - Citation Number 4 "Failure of employer to post comtion signs at all approaches to the Joint Compound mixing and pack out areas ..................." Approved signs were posted on 6-18-73 as required. At this time we feel that these are the only citations we can take care of without further instructions. k SGP 0006932
