So. 285 - 1950 October 11 CHARLES A. OEATTY DIES Charles A. Oeatty, a Company director and former manager of the metal department, died yesterday following a long illness. Br. Oeatty, who was sixty-seven years of age, is survived by his wife, Blanche E. Oeatty0 Mr. Oeatty, who retired in 19U8, started his Company career in 1899 with John T. Lewis & Bros. Co. in Baltimore. He became assistant manager of Rational Lead Compapy's Baltimore Branch in 1928 and manager of the Atlantic Branch metal division five years later. In 1938 Mr. Oeatty became Company manager of metal sales and in 19U0 was elected a director and member of the Executive Committee. He became manager of the metal department in 19U2o He was a vice-president and director of Morris P. Kirk & Son Inc. and a director of Master Metals Inc. Mr. Geatty continued as a director of National Lead Company up to the time of his death. Funeral services will be held in Baltimore on Friday. ST. LOUIS BRANCH HONORS RETIRED EMPLOYEES Fifteen retired employees of the St. Louis Branch were honor guests at a dinner party given recently in St. Louis. Osborn, foreman, lilt. BAROID APPOINTMENTS ANNOUNCED Five appointments in the Baroid Sales Division have been announced. Br0 F. L0 Cuthbert, former manager of the research and development department, has been appointed director of the division's sales and service laboratories. B. Ca Elsley, formerly assistant superintendent of bentonite mines and mills, becomes superintendent of these operations. Mr. Elsley joined Baroid in 19i*6 as a geologist in the production department. R. Jo White has been transferred to Los Angeles to work under the direction of Do H. Larsen, manager, patent development and management department. Mr. White began his Baroid career in 1938 as a research chemist. He was appointed manager of the Los Angeles research laboratory in 19b7 and was transferred to Houston, Texas, in 19^8 as manager of the laboratory there0 Earl L. H. Sackett has been named superintendent of Baroid's Washington County, Missouri, operations. Mr. Sackett joined the division as assistant chief metallurgist in Maivena, Arkansas, in 19U6. Former field service engineer Joseph P. Byrne has been appointed superintendent of District No. 51, an area which includes the many oil fields in the Los Angeles basin. Peters, 55, formerly president of National Lead Company of Massachusetts and manager of the Boston Branch, died recently. Hr. Peters joined the Company in 1912. He left three years later, returning in 1919 to become assistant sales manager in Boston. In 1933 he ms appointed sales manager and one year later became assistant manager of the branch. In 19li0 he ms elected president of National Lead Company of Massachusetts, retiring in 19U7. He is survived by his wife and a sister. GILMORE APPOINTED ASST. SUP'?. CF ST. LOUIS LEAD it OIL WORKS T. H. Gilmore has bean named assistant superintendent of the St. Louis Lead It Oil Works. Mr. Gilmore started his Company career in 1935 as a chemist at the St. Louis plant. In 19b0 he mas transferred to the Dallas oxide plant. Following four years of service in World War U, he returned to St. Louis in 19U6, becoming assistant to the superintendent of the St. Louis Lead & Oil Works in 19U8.
