Description
This variance records the effect on this project of changing the Scope of Work to add piles to the foundation design.
Justification
Soil tests indicated that excavation and backfill with good earth or installation of piles would be required for tank and steel supports. Cost comparisons were made for alternate methods with the result that piling was used throughout the entire project.
Cost of Work
The additional project cost for this work is $6,300.
Effect on Project Schedule
We gained at least 2 to 3 weeks of project construction time by using piling throughout the project. Work proceeded with verbal approval.
