Good morning --
On behalf of the American Association of Airport Executives and our members across the country, I am pleased to share with Secretary Duffy and Acting Administrator Rocheleau the attached "Commonsense Recommendations for Regulatory Reform."
We appreciate the Trump administration's ongoing efforts to advance deregulatory initiatives, require federal agencies to "rethink" how to operate in a more efficient manner, limit agencies to carrying out their statutorily mandated functions, and provide more certainty and expeditious approvals in the NEPA review process. To further these policies and objectives established in President Trump's executive orders, we have prepared the attached recommendations for DOT and FAA regulatory reform that could be implemented today without congressional action.
Collectively, our recommendations would eliminate decades of overregulation of airport capital development projects, ensure the FAA focuses on its core mission of promoting safety and efficiency, accelerate the delivery of safety-critical infrastructure projects, promote accountability and efficiency, and reduce unnecessary regulatory requirements and costs for the airport industry.
I would note that we recently submitted a request to meet with Acting Administrator Rocheleau and Acting Deputy Administrator McKenna in early April. We look forward to meeting with FAA and DOT leadership to discuss the recommendations and stand ready to work with the administration and your teams on implementation.
In the meantime, please reach out to Justin Barkowski, copied, if you have any questions. Thank you.
