Kehoe Kettering Laboratory of Applied Physiology College of Medicine University of Cincinnati Eden & Bethesda Avenues Cincinnati 19, Ohio Dear Dr. Kehoe: As you probably know Du Pont Rhodamine-5-GDN Extra has been selected as the colorant for Vitol solution. While there have been no specific toxicological studies made of this dye, the workmen engaged in its manu facture and handling have not been known to show any injurious effects from it. In vie?/ of this apparent negative history it would appear that the precautionary measures commonly employed to prevent the inhalation of industrial dusts would be adequate to protect those handling this product as it pertains to Vitol solution. Very truly yours. SLR/lb S. L. Rankin, M.D. Medical Director Petroleum Chemicals Division XB 0020746
