Most of the final plant performance figures are in for fiscal year 1990 and I would like to congratulate all of you for your efforts this year I
First, in SA^KrV we had our safest year with only five OSHA recordable injuries and we reached eleven years without a lost time injury! Every one of you made this happen!
The Vinyl Department, Warehouse, Administrative Services, Process Engineering, Safety, Quality Development and Employee Relations had no injuries in FY90! Congratulations!
Major opallti successes for 1990 were Klockner graininess and Southwire contamination improvements. Another major success was that twenty-two teams earned Managers Awards for completing projects which:
- Saved Time - Reduced Off-Grade - Eliminated Unnecessary Tests - Reduced Costs - Improved Safety - Reduced Work - Improved Efficiency - Reduced Waste - Improved Processes - Improved Housekeeping - Improved Product Quality
We had only thirteen team awards in 1988 and eight in 1989 so this is a fantastic achievement!
Other onAi.tty successes were:
- We improved our Prestolite quality audit score from 70 to 78!
- We received a 5 Star rating (the highest) from AT&T!
- Flexible compound % prime improved from 96.9% in FY89 to 97.9% in 1990!
