Reporter stated he was getting background for next EPA news release.
Q. I'm trying to calculate the amount of TCDD in that 20,000 gallon OCP spill. Kow much does a gallon of OCP weigh in pounds? How many pounds does the TCDD weigh as a percent of the load?
A. OCP weighs approximately 10.3 pounds per gallon. So a 20,000 gallon load weighs 207,000 pounds. The TCDD would constitute 1/8 of one ounce and to the best of our knowledge is spread evenly throughout the tankcar contents.
Q. Reporter read Columbia Missourian article which stated EPA said they asked for samples bur nor for us to test for TCDD and my rebuttal.
A. Gave same response as before and explained sequence of events.

Washington Office said EPA couldn't find anybody to analyze blood^rom
clean-up workers. I called Dr. Charles Poole.(EPA) and gave him names
of four labs where such tests might be conducted. He said problem is none of their contract labs can do studies of blood and seemed grateful
for our list. He also said today, urine was taken from eight workers
and blood drawn from the two who complained of skin rash (not last
$
Friday as had been reported) . Man burned by OCP is itinerant worker
