We would be very interested to understand how we could propose a speaker to the upcoming sessions, in particular the ones on financing and the policy workshop in September. We have noticed that various European organisations such as EHPA, EHI are already integrated in the program multiple times, and we believe that a representation from the European District Heating and Cooling industry would be a beneficial addition to the conversation. District Heating and Cooling will be an important user of large heat-pumps, which are also gaining increasing attention. Most of our future integrated clean sources will use large heat-pumps in the future: this is valid notably for geothermal energy, solar thermal, as well as waste and ambient heat recovery. It makes District Heating and Cooling a key infrastructure to replace gas in future buildings, and scale-up the deployment of the heat-pump market in Europe. This element has already been well documented by the IEA in its latest Heat Pump Outlook (November 2022), and through a subsequent report on Large heat Pumps for District heating and Cooling developed by Euroheat & Power in 2022. We would be extremely keen to contribute to the discussion and look forward to receiving more information. From: @ec.europa.eu < @ec.europa.eu> Sent: 30 May 2023 12:55 To: @ec.europa.eu Subject: Heat Pump Action Plan: Research, innovation and market development - 16 June 2023 Dear Stakeholder, In view of speeding up energy system decarbonisation and advancing the shift to renewable and efficient heating and cooling in buildings, industry and networks, the European Commission is preparing an action plan to accelerate the roll-out of heat pumps. As part of its stakeholder consultation for the action plan, the Call for Evidence was launched on the Have Your Say portal and closed on 26 May 2023. It will be followed by an open public consultation, which will be launched in June 2023 and will remain open for 12 weeks. In this context, we have the pleasure to invite you to attend a series of hybrid stakeholder events which will take place at Centre A. Borschette, rue Froissart 36, 1040 Brussels, that aim to provide a focussed exchange and discussion on the envisaged building blocks of action plan communication. The first event took place on 25 May 2023 on the topic of skills and communication. We are now inviting you to join the second stakeholder consultation event on research, innovation, and market development that will take place on 16 June 2023 (preliminary agenda attached). Please, put in your diaries the forthcoming stakeholder consultation event on financing the roll-out of heat pumps on 5 July 2023 (agenda to follow in due time). A final stakeholder event will take place in September 2023 and discuss the conditions for establishing a supportive framework and an effective governance (European, national, regional, and local) for the roll-out of heat pumps (date to be confirmed) The events are organised in hybrid format - both a physical and a virtual meeting - the virtual meeting taking place via a WebEx video conference. You are not required to have a WebEx account to join the meeting. Provided that the capacity of the meeting room allows for it, we hope to be able to accommodate all those intending to attend in person. We hope that you will join the discussion.
