PEOPLE' S HEAL'fH CENTERS DEMONSTRATE AT LEAD CONFERENCE On Thursday, May n. r972 at 9:00 AH - representatives from several People1a Free Health Centers will demonstrate at the Midwest Regional Conference on Childhood Lead Poisoning at the Conrad Hilton Hotel. The ouroose of the'"demonstration is to demand that the City of Chicago be "deleaded" by 1973 This would mean: All homes in Chicago with children under the age of five years be tested for lead. 2. Immediate action be taken by the City of Chicago to make these homes "deleaded" 3. All children in the City of Chicago between the ages of 1 to 5 years be tested for lead poisoning. 4. The immediate development of a long term treatment and follow-un program for all children with dangerously high lead levels. We are not demonstrating to attack current model programs (as in Uptown) or the well-meaning efforts of this conference. We are here to say that model programs conferences and minimal enforcement of existing laws are not OTeventing lead ooisoning - an entirely preventable disease.
