Hey y'all - first off, thank you for all of your help moving this process forward. The Vault team has not seen this level of progress in the 2+ years since submitting their permit. Today, we had a meeting with John Reiten at the NEDC to inform him about the project and the progress made since our engagement with EPA HQ. I wanted to keep you updated on our admin meetings. Thank you again for all of your help. They have started weekly calls/meetings with Region 5. Ann Vogel has been a breath of fresh air, but the Vault team is still running into roadblocks with Region 5 staff. Region 5 promised to get them a comprehensive list of outstanding requests for the Vault team, and they failed to do so. Region 5 staff also promised to give them a timeline for completion of the technical review, but they failed to deliver that as well. In light of this, we believe it would be very helpful to have a member from EPA HQ join these calls with Region 5. We understand that your time is valuable and limited, so we are requesting a member of the Office of Water team, not necessarily either of you. Currently, the next meeting is scheduled for May 1st at 2:30 p.m. CT, 3:30 p.m. ET. Also, as discussed in our meeting, we have been drafting a letter for the IN delegation to send. It will be largely praising the Administrator for prioritizing speeding up permitting. Still tbd on when/if it will be necessary to send. Thank you again for all of your help!
