The tabs are formed by bending over projections of the shoe table. Their purpose is to provide larger contact area with the backing plate. Although providing an improved friction in the system these shoes are completely interchangeable with earlier numbers. Use of earlier numbers in these applications will show no discernible change in performance For this reason these cores may be consolidated with earlier f cores as shown belcw.
