The follow ing is quoted fro m the m em o ran d u m which explain s the su ggestion : "It a p p e a rs to m e that we have a m a jo r com m un ication s a re a here of securin g inform ation fro m m an u factu rers, having sa m e an alyzed by plant p erso n n el, and then d istrib u tin g th is in form ation to each w ork er on the jo b . . "T h is to m e se e m s like an im p o ssib le ta sk to handle " adequately. I strongly recom m end that your com m ittee review the p o ssib ility of having a ll in form ation req u ired a s to lim ita tio n s, p re c a u tio n s, and re q u ir e d sa fe ty equipm ent to be u sed p lain ly put on ev e ry can of m arin e paint. T h is is done on household p ro d u cts, and I see no re aso n why we should duck the issu e on m arin e fin ish e s. "I b eliev e that if the Sh ip b u ild ers a s a group took the stand that they would not u se p ro d u cts in this a r e a which w ere not c o m p le te ly and p ro p e rly la b e le d on each can that we would be ab le to acco m p lish our safe ty p ro g ra m .
