C Employees whose work requires them to come in contact with asbestoacontaining materials or wastes should properly utilize all equipment provided for minimizing asbestos exposure. In addition, the fallowing work practices should be conscientiously adhered:
1. Appropriate personal protection equipment should be properly used at times in accordance with the directions provided in training programs.
2. All handling of asbestos-containing materials during unpacking, riveting, installing, grinding, stacking, and packing should be dona in a manner to minimize disturbing or damaging surfaces, except under exhaust ventilation.
3. Exhaust ventilation systems provided for work stations should be properly used. Any problems observed with ventilation systems should be immediately reported to supervisors.
4. All activities in work areas where asbeatos-oontaining materials are handled should be conducted In a manner to minimize the disturbance of settled dust. This includes stacking parts, moving pallets or equipment, and housekeeping.
5. Housekeeping in areas where asbestos-containing materials are handled should bo conducted by HBPA vacuuming or surfactant wet wiping. Dry sweeping should not bo conducted. Waste materials should be placed in properly labeled containers provided for disposal.
