SUMMARY The specific heats of insulating Firebrick were needed for calculation of. heat storage of various combinations of insulations and the equipment measuring specific heat was not readily available. Therefore, a method described by Thuret in the Journal of Glass Technology (1936) was used to calculate the specific heats from the chemical composition of each type of insulating Firebrick. In order to check the validity of the method, values were calculated for three types of brick for which measured values were available and agreement was fairly good.
