TIPICAL CTSTOmt PROBLEMS

This company has been using a lithopone in a resin-emulsion coating for their wall board. In order to hanre more than one source af supply, they have been U3ing a blend of Permolith 60-H and Alballth 362 at the Natchez plant and a blend of Alballth 362 and Sunollth 76C at the Jarrett plant. Since Alballth 362 will no longer be available, they are now asking that we supply them with a lithopone that will match the hiding power of the present Perraolith 60-H - Alballth 362 combination.
At the present time, Coffeyville is setting up to make a ruh, duplicating as nearly as possible, the procedure for producing an Alballth 362 type of lithopone. If the run is successful, we will be able to make direct replacement of this grade. Should the hiding power fall somewhat short, it is still possible that it will approximate the present blend of the Alballth 362 and Perraolith 60-H.
2. national Gypsum
This coiqMny originally requested a ceuntexnatch for Ponolith HC-W in a casein formula used at the Buffalo plant and the Natchez location. Perraolith W-L61 was developed and approved to meet the requirements at Buffalo. Batches, however, has replaced the Fcnolith HC-W with Sunollth 768. Bo attempt Is anticipated to natch the Sunollth pigmentj however, if the Coffeyville run in a simulated Alballth 362 is successful, it is expected that it will aeet the requirements of the Matches plant.

Several years ago, this company requested a water-wetting type of Perraolith as an alternate for Alballth 362 in a casein formulation. It was required that this llthepsns meet thsir specification far acetic acid soluble saltst

A trial shipment of Perraolith *-320 was submitted and approved at that tine. However, no further shipments ware ordered, and II. S. Gypsum continued to use Alballth 362. Bacantly, a pre-teatad sample of Perraolith W-320 was again submitted far their examination. No reply has been received aa yet. If we are successful in developing a lithopone reasonably comparable to Alballth 362, this would probably provide an even better answer to their requirements.
