Applied Epidemiology, Inc. was awarded a contract by the Chemical Manufacturers Association to update the epidemiological mortality study of VCM/PVC workers through 1992. Last week, ENSR (the previous contractor on this project) began transferring archived study materials and data to us, and we expect to begin active work on the project within the next few weeks. Once we have identified all study members who w ere alive at the end of the previous update and who were employed at one of your plants, we would appreciate any assistance you may be able to offer in determining which of these study participants are still alive (ideally, as of 12/31/92, the end of our follow-up period), and their employment status (active, retired, separated, unknown). Also, if any are known to be dead, this would be useful information, including date and place of death. Helpful sources of data to determine vital status include personnel and human resources databases, retiree lists, payroll records, tax forms (especially W-3 reports), life insurance claims, health insurance claims, plant employment records, etc. We will forward the list of study members affiliated with your facilities by mid-summer.
