Salem, OR 97305 Failure to Deliver 2023 Consumer Confidence Report, BIE Chemawa Indian School, PWS ID 104101132 Dear Mr. Parlette: The BIE Chemawa Indian School water system did not deliver the Consumer Confidence Report (CCR) for 2023 to its customers and EPA by July 1, 2024, which constitutes a violation of the National Primary Drinking Water Regulations [40 CFR Subpart O]. All community water systems must deliver a CCR each year to all customers and EPA by July 1st [40 CFR 141.152(b-c)]. The CCR is a water quality report that must contain information from the previous calendar year relating to drinking water source, contaminants detected and their health effects, violations and compliance information [40 CFR 141.153]. EPA received a copy of the BIE Chemawa Indian School water system CCR for 2023 and certification form on July 3, 2024. This violation has been returned to compliance, no further action is needed at this time. This letter serves as initial notification of non-compliance under the Safe Drinking Water Act for the regulation and time period cited. EPA supports compliance assistance and encourages early action to return to compliance. Issues not addressed in a timely manner may be referred to enforcement. Prior to an enforcement action for the cited violation(s), EPA Region 10 will offer government-togovernment consultation, in accordance with the EPA Policy on Consultation and Coordination with Indian Tribes.
