PETE RICKETTS NEBRASKA SUITE 139 RUSSELL SENATE OFFICE BUILDING WASHINGTON, DC 20510-2710 12021 224-4224 United *tatcs *cnatc COMMITTEES: FOREIGN RELATIONS ENVIRONMENT AND PUBLIC WORKS BANKING, HOUSING, AND URBAN AFFAIRS BUDGET March 6, 2025 The Honorable Sean Duffy Secretary of Transportation 1200 New Jersey Avenue, SE Washington, DC 20590 Dear Secretary Duffy, I write to request your consideration for the Better Utilizing Investments to Leverage Development (BUILD) grant application for $24,996,122.34 submitted by Gage County, Nebraska. This project is designed to strengthen transportation infrastructure, improve safety measures, and stimulate economic development along the rural Clatonia-DeWitt and Hickory corridor in Gage County, connecting Jefferson and Saline Counties and their small communities to vital medical, business, and social needs. The Clatonia-DeWitt Road is reaching the end of its lifespan and the increased traffic on Hickory Road has made it difficult to maintain. Most residents avoid these roads due to their poor condition, and even medical professionals find alternate routes, extending their drive times choosing safety over expediency. I ask that you please give all due and fair consideration, in accordance with all rules and regulations, to Gage County's grant application for the BUILD grant. If you have any questions regarding this letter, lease contact Trinity Chappelear in my Omaha office; she may be reached by phone at or by email at Trinity Chappelear@ricketts.senate.gov. Respectfully, Pete Ricketts United States Senator OST-2025-1200 Page 01984 Sierra Club v. Dept. of Transp. - 3:25-cv-06221 SC_EVERSPLIT0027865
