FILE NAME: Asten Hill (AH) DATE: 1960 DOC#: AH001 DOCUMENT DESCRIPTION: Memo STATE OF THE UKICN Ka SSAUa Gentlemen: Since June of the year 1946, We have always cherished, respected, and looked forward to the fact that Asten-Hill employees were given a voice in the operation, position and advancement of Asten-Hill Kfg Go. In June of I960 that voice la asked to make a decision which will depend on the future of all succesea, achievements and promotions concerning Asten-Hill Mfg Go., in the Textile Larket. The decision asked is that the current demands be of a liberal nature and held to a minimum and extreme regard be observed to the tactics used by agents should we err or falter in our position to stay as leader in the field. It should be recognized that it was the good leadership supplied by Labor plus the devoted loyalty cooperation and sacrifices of. the present employees that put Asten-Hill in the leader position it occupies today. It is not our intention to demolish something that we have built by being reckless In our present negotiations. But It is obvious that during those trying years wa have suffered casualties In our ranks because of the job hazard and these casualties at present time are on the uprise. It should be understood then that a better position for the future of the Asten-Hill employees who work under this hazard is an absolute must. Let up then enter these negotiations with a firm determination to be honest and sincere, with that point in view the Asten-Hill leadership will never be in Jeopardy. In these immortal words of Lincoln let us remember The struggle of today is not altogether for today; It is for a vast future also. With a reliance on Frovldenoe, all the more ,,.firm and earnest, let us proceed In the great task which events have^ devolved upon ue. Executive Committee A.h.T .I0.
