During the month of August the visitation program to the hospital or homes of employees on Worker's Compensation was continued. Seventeen visits to the employees' homes were made during the month. Nine hospital visits were made, but six of these were
to employees in the hospital with non-job related Illnesses.
There were no new lost time accidents during the month of August. Three employees had OSHA recordable accidents and their status Is as follows:
1. Mr. Ronald Yates, a maintenance mechanic. Injured his right knee on 1 Aug 80
while working in the 200 line dryer at PV0H. The Injury was diagnosed as a
probable strain by the company doctor, and he was put on light duty. Later,
he was referred to an orthropedlc surgeon; and micro-surgery was performed
on his right knee on an out-patient basis on 21 August. Mr. Yates reported to the plant 22 August and has continued to do so each work day since surgery. Mr. Yates will be re-evaluated by the orthropedlc surgeon on 15 September 80.

Mr. Winston Houser, an Acetylenlcs operator, received first and second degree burns on his upper body In a flash fire at the ball mill In the Acetylenlcs department on midnight shift 21 August. Mr. Houser was admitted to Lourdes Hospital and was discharged on Wednesday morning, 27 August. Houser has been treated at the plant first aid and his bums are progressing satisfactorily.
.3. Mr. Frank McManus, an Acetylenlcs operator. Injured his hip and back In his successful attempt to escape the fire at the ball mill in the Acetylenlcs department. Mr. McManus was not hospitalized, but he Is reporting to the plant first aid each day for medical evaluation.
Active Cases, Employees Away From Work
1. J. Smith, Jr., PVC bagger, is still recuperating at home. Mr. Smith says he has some difficulty moving his arm forward and upward. He said his doctors
are satisfied with his progress. His next appointment is 15 September, 1980.
2. A. Koebel, an electrician, is recuperating at home. He says his neck is still painful. He is awaiting an appointment with Mayo Clinic.
3. B. Boaz, a PV0H bagger operator, had the cast removed on 27 August and instructed to do limited exercise of her wrist. Her next appointment is 10 September, 1980.

4. R. Taylor, a maintenance mechanic, is still recuperating at home. The last time I visited his home no one was at home. I have not talked to him since his last doctor's appointment.
5. J. Potts, an Emulsion operator, continues to recuperate and exercise his knee at home. His next appointment is 10 September 1980.
Mr. W, P. Ethridge and A. Franklin returned to work in August. Mr. Ethridge is on regular duty.
Active Cases, Employees on Regular Light Duty
1. C. Wyatt, maintenance mechanic, continues on light duty. Mr. Hardee of Liberty Mutual Insurance promised he would give us some information on this case settle ment by the middle of September, 1980.
2. A Smith, a maintenance mechanic, continues on light duty and he does not seem to be making any progress. His next appointment with Dr. Davies, a neurosurgeon, is 19 September 1980.
3. 0. Price, a catalyst operator, is still on light duty.
4. J. Van Vactor, laborer, returned to regular duty in the Tatter part of August. He accepted a voluntary lay-off effective 31 August, and he is on an exercise program to strengthen his back.
5. A Franklin, a maintenance mechanic, returned to work on the 4 August; and he Is still on light duty due to his knee injury.
6. N. Hatton, a maintenance mechanic, produced a letter from Dr. Hunt, an orthropedic surgeon, who operated on his shoulder, stating that he was 202 ppt. disability as a result of his shoulder injury. A copy of this letter was forwarded to Liberty Mutual Insurance in Louisville, Ky. Mr. Hardee states that they will investigate this claim and rating throughly before they make any settlement.
7. L. Bebout, a refrigeration mechanic, reported difficulty with his back resulting from an old or prior job related injury. He is on light duty.
