Bevan, We would Bring the following case to your attention, so that same may be passed on to your medical people for an opinion. The case is an interesting one, but is not to be confused in ary manner with Ethyl Lead poisoning. This case appears to be a simple one of Lead poisoning. For some time an employee of our Depot at Brunico, EdoErdo Auer, has been ill. Investigation had shown the Auer has been poisoned by drinking water from a container made of lead. As you will note from the attached medical certificate, Hutteger states that Auer will be fully cured within two months and that in all likelihood he will be able to take up his duties with the Company at the termination of that period .without any further consequence. Inasmuch, however, as Auer has already been subjected to Lead poisbning, we doubt very much whether he should be assigned to the handling of Carburants with Ethyl Fluid. These symptoms were continuous and indecisive. Finally the borders of gums by slow process of development and a blood test showed a saturnine intoxi cation. The trouble with this hands disappeared, but about five weeks ago a necrosis developed on the third toe of the left foot and under the nail of the large toe. These necrosyses are very painful, while the patient is unable to either sleep or walk. The necrosis is now beginning to take a definite form, while the patient is now taking a cure:to throw off all the lead substances found in his body.
