February 16, 1939 Mr* J. Bevys Etabltenements Kuhlmann 11 Hue a la Batuse Farts (Se) France , ., Pear Hr, Bevysu Your letter of January 23rd addressed to the Ethyl Gasoline Corporation was forwarded to me on the assumption that the analysis of the speoiaens mentioned in your letter referred to the samples of the excreta of workmen which were forwarded to this laboratory for analysis la3t fall. tou may not be aware of It but this laboratory has no administrative relationship to Ethyl Gasoline Corporation, and any work which we do here in the University is not dealt with in any way through Ethyl Gasoline Corporation accounts. I make mention of this fact only to make clear to you that the work which we did in the analysis of the samples which I brought home with me and also of those which were subsequently sent to us, was not done with the expectation of making any charge. I volunteered-to do thi3 analytical work because X was intereste& in seeing that you got off to a good start, but also because I was very much interested in connection with our experimental studies, in obtaihing data on the lead Intake and output of French Workmen, Having obtained these samples before the actual work in the tetraethyl lead plant had begun, we were enabled to learn something of these facts without the of the factor of occupational lead exposure. This CO is a field in which we have been working for a gooa many years, and X have taken every opportunity to obtain additional data. X should not think of making any charge for this work, X have been somewhat surprised that the second set of samples which were to have been obtained three months after the beginning of the plant, has not been forwarded to us for examination. It seems improbable that M. Savoy would have his laboratory going on a satisfactory basis for making this study and I, therefore, suggested to Dr.Giroire and, I believe, to you as well, that these samples be obtained and forwarded HE 00003 to ua for examination. In any ease I should be pleased to know what disposition* if any* has been sad of this mattet*' \ . : ' In the case of these samples as well* if they are forwarded to us* there will be no charge for the analytical work. Very truly yours* HAS;is Robert A, Kehoe* M,,D* US 0000395
