IV. TECHNICAL
A. The second extrusion trial at Bepex, Santa Rosa, California was fairly successful as we were able to run Cyastab 1W at 300 lbs/hr and SW at 600. This would equate to 3 and 6k lbs/hrs on a 15" machine.
Two problems were encountered. 1.) Maintaining a constant thruput. Control of feed rate, temperature and feed consistency is
apparently critical. 2.) Cutting of the pellets at the die head.
This can be accomplished by use of ain or CO2 but the optimum
nozzle configuration must be worked out.
The 6" machine has been rented for at least four weeks and we anticipate trial runs to start the week of August 6th.
B. PPG
We continue to give top priorty to laboratory experiments to re solve this problem.
C. EVALUATION OF LECTRO 95 & 105
We have since learned that Lectro 95 is not being sampled ,and will be withdrawn. We understand it is/was a physical mixture of Sulfate and Phthalate.
A sample of Lectro 105 is supposed to be coming from Conoco via C. E. Petersen, and a sample of Lectro 65, the base material from which it is made is coming from M.L. Siano.

D. LYNN PLASTICS
Required information has been received. Project has been set up and assigned to B. Terzic.
E. TENNECO
We still need a sample of Tribase - oiled. Just received a sample of Tribase XL - oiled, which we did not need.
F. ETHYL
C. E. Petersen is to request the customer provide more masterbatch, and Izod bars from previous test. He will also request that they test bars we prepare in Bridgewater.
G. CAPITAL WIRE
918 will function effectively in Capital's 105 formulation. We only need to test in their other formulations before submission. Project has been set up and assigned to 3. Terzic.
H. PACKARD ELECTRIC
In a telephone conversation. Bob Slapsak recommended that we do not do any work on new stabilizers for them in other than their formulation. He promised to send us a masterbatch as scon as possible.

There have been no new complaints this month. The YTD total stands at 10, broken down as follows:

V. GENERAL
A. We have developed lead inventories and supplies to carry us into November/ December* This precaution has been taken as a result of major labor disruptions at Amex and St. Joe.
Lead prices currently quoted are 30 - 34b with the latest M.W. average at 30.2b.
