The grant with the U.of Colorado for the Shanghai Health Study requires unspent funds to be returned to API at the conclusion of the grant period. The current grant ends on June 30,2007. We learned that the good business practices followed by API's finance group require the Principal Investigator to submit a revised time-line for completion of the protocol(s). This would include a rational for why the project is no longer on schedule and what part of the protocol(s) can not be completed within the current schedule. This revised time-line would be the basis for API, with the concurrence of the Benzene Health Research Consortium, to provide a grant extension out to the appropriate date. Hopefully this feedback from API's finance group will help focus the discussion later today.
