Victor Aguilar, Mario Jorquera, Jason Gumbs and Katie Owens (the inspectors) arrived at Alex Lyon & Sons in Bushnell, FL on February 7, 2023, at 9:37 am for an unannounced inspection. The inspectors arrived at the front office at 9:46 am where Mario Jorquera introduced himself, presented credentials and asked to speak to a facility contact who could show us around the site. Inspectors were asked to wait by the receptionist and within a few minutes we were greeted by John Nixon, VP; and Terry McMahon, Site Manager. The inspectors presented credentials to both Mr. Nixon and Mr. McMahon. The inspectors were asked to accompany Mr. Nixon and Mr. McMahon to the location of an active auction to meet Jack Lyon, Owner. The inspectors met Jack Lyon at 10:03 am and presented our credentials at that time. The inspectors briefly speak with Mr. Lyon and Mr. Nixon to ask if they have concerns with us taking photos while we tour the auction house. Mr. Lyon stated it was okay to take photos onsite. The inspectors finished talking with Mr. Nixon at 10:13 am who also provided the inspectors with a golf cart to get around the facility. The scope of the inspection was an evaluation of the compliance status of several pieces of equipment being offered for sale at the facility. FACILITY DESCRIPTION The inspectors arrive at the front office at 3:52 pm to conduct the Closing Conference. Alex Lyon & Sons business started in 1973. Alex Lyon & Sons Bushnell Auction House is one of many auction houses and locations owned by Jack Lyon. This auction house is an outdoor operation which has a couple mobile homes which act as office space is hosted once per year in February, it spans 10 days and ha working the auction. Alex Lyon & Sons holds approximately 125 auctions per year, with 2-3 of them being in Canada, the rest are in the United States. This location has been operating for the last 2 years, though it was previously located in Kissimmee, Florida where it was hosted for 28 years. Its closest competitors are Jeff Marin, Yoder & Frey ( h); and Ritchie and Brothers. This auction has approximatel lots for sale with roughly 1500 online bids and 400-500 in - person bidders. The largest lots start Tuesday: Teleforklifts and Skidsteers. Some of the items lis as the consignee, otherwise items are imported thr . Items are then imported through Baltimore and New York, mostly. Alex Lyon & Sons considers its customer information to be Confidential Business Information (CBI). 2 Alex Lyon & Sons Inspection Date 02/07/2023 The inspectors wrapped up the Closing Conference at 4:34 pm. We relayed to Mr. Lyons that he can claim info as CBI and that he can request a copy of the inspection report. We departed the front office at 4:37 pm. Section II-OBSERVATIONS The inspectors were given a golf cart to navigate around the auction. At 10:22 am, inspections commenced. The inspectors began in the backhoe / excavator area of the auction. The inspectors divided into two teams: Owens + Jorquera (OJ), and Gumbs + Aguilar (GA). Lot 6024. Inspected by OJ and GA. Completed at 11:01 am. Nikon Photos: 1040-1058; Canon Photos: 0302 0309.
